I tried that, but then when I send mail to us@domain.co.za, I get "550 User unknown."

Correct. That means that you do not have an account named 'user' on your local system.

Correct. But domain.co.za is a virtual domain maintained by vpopmail. How do I get courier to deliver mail to a vpopmail virtual user? Do I have to use the aliases file and setup .courier files?
