Frank,

That's a brilliant idea. I'm not sure if something like this can be arranged this year but I'm going to share your wonderful concept with Oracle's Event Team today for future consideration.

I've learned over the years just how musically talented many of you are. :-)

My very best, --Sharat

Nice Sharat!

Any of these performances video streamed with the help of JavaFX? That would be cool.

Seriously... we need the Java Community to form bands and play too! How about a JavaOne open-mic or jam session where only the Java Community can participate?

Java User Group Leaders and Java Champions:

This evening I learned details on Oracle's first-ever music festival happening at JavaOne and OpenWorld this year. From Sept. 30th through Oct. 4th, several venues throughout San Francisco will host a variety of talent ranging in music flavors/styles from 7:00pm to 1:00am.

From named acts, emerging/local bands, and DJs, the outdoor venues near the JavaOne Zone and Moscone Center (including 111 Minna, DNA, Mezzanine, Roe, Ruby Skye, Slim’s, the Taylor Street Café, Temple, Union Square, and Yerba Buena Gardens) will showcase acts spanning from reggae to rock, punk to ska, R&B to country, indie to honky-tonk. I'm sure after a full day of sessions and networking, you'll all be primed for some late-night relaxation and rocking out at one or more of these sets. Just know that seating at designated venues is on a first-come/first-serve basis.

Some of the bands lined up include: BluesMix <http://www.bluesmix.com/>, Dirty Ghosts <http://dirtyghosts.com/>, The Dodos <http://www.dodosmusic.net/>, The English Beat <http://englishbeat.net/>, Red
Meat<http://www.redmeat.net/mainWNC.html>, The Five Hundreds <http://www.myspace.com/thefivehundreds>, and the Young Prisms <http://kaninerecords.com/young-prisms> (one of my local San Francisco favorites).
