trying to read my /etc/courier/esmtproutes. How can I verify this?

By verifying that the format of that file is exactly what the manual page says should be.

I used webadmin, and recreated it at least a dozen times, but here's the exact content for you to judge: cat esmtproutes : [196.25.240.94]

ls -l esmtproutes -rw-r--r-- 1 daemon daemon 18 Jun 22 01:46 esmtproutes

tail /var/log/mail.log Jun 22 01:52:31 joy courierd: started,id=0027C1CE.40CF518F.00000559,from=<me@my.domain>,module=esmtp,host=yahoo.co.uk,addr=<andr@yahoo.co.uk> Jun 22 01:52:31 joy courierd: Waiting. shutdown time=none, wakeup time=none, queuedelivering=1, inprogress=1 Jun 22 01:52:31 joy courieresmtp: id=0027C1CE.40CF518F.00000559,from=<me@my.domain>,addr=<andr@yahoo.co.uk>: Connection closed by remote host. I notice that the system clock is about 6 hours ahead. I can't seem to convince knoppix of my timezone, or that the CMOS clock is correct.

I hope this does'nt affect the solution to my smtp problem.

Thanks
