Hello all,

Is it possible that some kind of DNS error can stop an SMTP transaction from an authorized user?

Occasionally, I am unable to send out an email via our mail server. Unfortunately, I didn't have the message mutt gives me and it is a very intermittant problem so I cannot reliably replicate it. My admittedly vague recollection is mutt reported that the server complained about DNS ...

The problem seemed to go away when I turned off dnslookups, hence my subject line.

The only other cause I can think of is that all the esmtpd connection slots are used up. I didn't see any such messages in the log around the time this happened last night--does Courier log a message when this happens; for example, MAXPERC exceeded?
