You must not be running the server process. I believe it is run using mysqld.exe, but I am not sure, because I also use winmysqladmin to run the server. It is nice, puts an icon in the system tray and allows you to install, remove, start and shutdown the service as well as edit the my.ini file among many other features.

Hi,

The easiest way is going to \mysql\bin and start WinMySQLAdmin program - this program will install MySQL as service, create a basic .ini file and Your are up and running (have never failed for me).

Be sure to remove the mysql.ini / .cfg file from winnt\system32 - otherwise is might be reused during WinMySQLAdmin and still fail.

I have Windows 2000 and I can't seem to get MYSQL running. Every time I try to get it started on the command prompt it says "Error: 2003: Can't connect to MySQL server on 'localhost' (10061)" if you could please inform me on how to get MYSQL running on NT I would be very appreciative.
