That's strange. If you set

DEFAULTOPTIONS="foobar=1"

then restart authdaemond, then do 'authtest <someaccount>', that account should have foobar=1 added to its options list. Does it not?

If not, then I'd just check that you don't have two sets of DEFAULTOPTIONS settings in your authdaemonrc file, and that you don't have two authdaemonrc files on your system (and you're changing the wrong one).

# find / -name authdaemonrc
