I think makehosteddomains is a file from courier-mta distribution and i think you are using qmail for your smtp service.

so i used imappw instead of systempw... what is this option?

In courier-mta you can setup passwords for pop, smtp or imap services, so you can point which one are you setting up. More info: http://www.courier-mta.org/makeuserdb.html

i also did not use -f parameter i just had it load into /etc/userdb/ that is the location of my userdb files..
