| From: "# Cowham, Robert (Exchange)" <CowhamR at logica.com> | | Just curious, given that things have gone quiet recently - what's the | process for deciding on the contents of 97.3? | | Robert |

Up until now, what went into new releases of Perforce was mostly a matter of following our original design, coupled with miscellaneous bug fixes and enhancements requested by our users.

This release, we're suspending the "vision thing" to make an ease-of-use release. The basic idea is to reduce user confusion by making Perforce "do the right thing" more often. In the end, this will make it easier both on new users as well as existing customers, who currently must explain to their new hires about the idiosyncrasies of Perforce.

Robert Orenstein (rlo at perforce.com) is collecting requests for this release. We're having a planning meeting in early August when we will triage the suggestions. As always, the actual release will be a combination of what we should do and what can be done, but we'll try our best to make the biggest dent in usability that we can.

Needless to say, we will continue to include bug fixes in both the current (97.2) and upcoming (97.3) releases, according to their priority.
