After a bit more digging and thinking, I now have: /usr/lib/courier/etc/locallowercase and /usr/lib/courier/etc/bofh with the following line inside: opt BOFHBADMIME=accept

but I still get the errors below, even after restarting the server:

Sep 18 16:00:00 mail courieresmtpd: error,relay=::ffff:131.238.75.40,from=<Bria@notes.udayton.edu>,to=<Bri@meehanontheweb.com>: 556 Address unavailable.

Sep 18 16:00:00 mail courieresmtpd: error,relay=::ffff:131.238.75.40,msg="502 ESMTP command error",cmd: DATA
