Meanwhile I arranged to compile maildrop1.8 with authentication to courier-authdaemon installed on my debian woody machine. Auth works so far, but maildrop complains about

postfix/pipe[30739]: send attr reason = temporary failure. Command output: /usr/local/bin/maildrop: Invalid home directory permissions - world writable.

Neither the homedirectory of the vmail user (/home/vmail) nor the mailfolder of the recipient (/home/vmail/$domain/$user) nor the filterfolder (/home/vmail/.mailfilters/) have any group or world permissions.

About which home directory maildrop is speaking?

Thanks for your input, Mathias
