I had a similar problem when sending mails, and solved it by adding "-noidentlookup" to esmtpd's TCPDOPTS.

Hello,

I have a well working (courier) server but I just learned that some mails can't be sent to my server because it is too long to answer.

So I took the test and measured a delay of 23 and 33 seconds between the EHLO I sent and the 220... response. DNSStuff.com has an "email test" (at bottom-right of the page) that says my address is invalid and won't work. Of course, it does but a bit too slow for the test.

I tried several things like disabling BOFHCHECKHELO in bofh and smtpaccess/default, disabling (python)filters and a few even more stupid things that decence won't let me express here.

Is this delay some kind of protection from courier ? Can it be reduced ?

Thanks for your help,
