Kenneth,
I'm glad that you've diagnosed the problem, but now you have the problem that SketchUp will run really sloooooow.
SketchUp depends heavily on OpenGl hardware support to run quickly. With 'Hardware acceleration' off, SketchUp is using 'software emulation,' which is always slower than 'real' hardware processing. Hardware trumps software every time.
I encourage you to continue to try and find OpenGl support in a better driver for your graphics chipset. I hope that a hardware help group exists for your computer. As I wrote previously, that's where I found my best-performing driver (I've collected and tried half-a-dozen over the last 5 years.) As it turns out, my computer performs better with an older driver version. The newer versions always caused additional problems, and/or worsened graphics performance.
So, don't give up -- try old and new drivers that are specific to your graphics chipset and computer. Newest isn't always best.
Good luck, Taff
