Hello!

I just installed courier on a debian woody system. Nothing seemd to be wrong. The webadmin package has been installed too, because I first wanted to use courier in standard manner - not to much extra configurations. BUT:

I could not manage to log into the webadmin interface. I tried several things (according to previous postings and the documentation):

- I used appache-ssl with local adresses https://127.0.0.1/cgi-bin/courierwebadmin - I used apache-ssl with (internal) hostnamens https://<myhost>/cgi-bin/courierwebadmin

but always got:

ERROR: Invalid password

According to some other postings I ensured: - to have the password in cleartext in /etc/courier/webadmin/password BUT still NO success - to add my IP adresses in /etc/courier/webadmin/unsecureok BUT still NO success

(By the way: I tried all this using appach (without SSL) too, still NO success)

Could anybody please tell me what is the trick to get this damned webadmin working - or least "let me in"!?

Thanks for reading so far

Sorry for asking again for help! I still could not manage to log into the webadmin. On the other side I pretty sure a lot of people already managed to do so. May be anybody could answer with a link to some information how to to so. In Google I found a lot of other postings telling of the same problem but none contained the solution. Even the courier documentation doesn't say how to set/activate (or whatever) the password for webadmin. It does.

Did you manage to log into weabadmin? Yes.

Could you please tell me how to get this working?

I had trouble at first too. I fixed it by downloading the latest courier package and recompiling and reinstalling. Worked a dream after the reinstallation but just wouldn't play ball before.

What does your "/etc/courier/webadmin/password" file look like? Plain text. Encoded? Or plain text? Must the password be at least 20 characters long? Plain text. A single (short-ish) line - certainly less than 20 characters.

Thanks for your help/endurance!
