Strange.
I don't know why it's deleting them as I did it all through the Samba
configuration file first (/etc/samba/smb.conf). Maybe you can give it
a shot.
Here's an example of a share on my config:
[movies]
path = /media/sda2
available = yes
browsable = yes
public = yes
writable = yes
