Maybe I could to help you...

1 - Yes. The safest way is you associate using the MakeRequest() call to sent an "pre-request". This should be made to certify that the request to the photo upload cames from the Orkut. After this, you HAVE to open the page in a new window with the form with the "file" field sending to this new page the signature that you collect in the previous page. This signature cames with a TIMESTAMP value that you could to use to limit the time for the photo upload. This timestamp checks could prevent "replay attacks".

The method I've describe is secure and works very well on our applications!
