Do you have an /etc/maildroprc? If so, what's in it? (grep '^[^#]'
/etc/maildroprc)
Well?
Also if I run maildrop -d valid.user@virtual.domain - the message
"Invalid user specified" is returned.
Well, that goes without saying ... we need Brian Candler here, but
he's not a maildrop aficionado ...

As per a previous post :
maildrop -v gives me:
GDBM extensions enabled.
This program is distributed under the terms of the GNU General Public
License. See COPYING for additional information.
And I didnt mean for you to take "'maildrop -v' will return that either
authlib or mysql support available" as it literally returns that
sentence - I was paraphrasing - what I ment was that 'maildrop -v'
should return some mention of authlib but it doesnt.
That was for maildrop 1.8.0, dude. Or: what are you running now, and
what does it say?
I do appreciate the help but not the extraneous remarks.
You get what you merit - and that's not much, at the moment.
@Sam
Thanks for the help - im searching for a courier-authlib-devel rpm as we
speak - doesnt seem to exist for FC3 but Ill keep looking. Im guessing
that maybe I have a bit of a dodgy install of imap and authlib and so
leaning towards pulling the most up-to-date tars of imap and authlib and
rebuilding both. What files do I need to backup in order to keep my
current configuration ?
If you build Courier authlib from source using 'rpmbuild -ta' and
install the resulting rpms, they will keep your current config files in
/etc/authlib as *.bak. If in doubt, *backup your current files first*.
If you build maildrop 2.0.3 (that's latest stable) FROM SOURCE, as is,
using 'rpmbuild -ta' on a Red Hat Recent or Fedora Recent it will give
you a valid rpm, which you can then install. Whatever you find anywhere
else is possibly inferior.
Your main problem is, you don't listen.
Why I exhorted Brian is, that he's an exceedingly patient person who
even suffers f. g. (me, for example).
