I cannot find any official documentation for maildrop stating support for ClamAV. For my peace of mind, does maildrop support clamscan?

Maildrop is a scripting language. It supports calling shell programs and allowing the shell programs to interact with an email. Thus maildrop supports ClamAV and pretty much any shell program that can be run.

I recommend you look at using clamassassin with ClamAV. Clamassassin is very easy to configure and can be called as an xfilter from maildrop.
