I'm seeing it push stuff into CVS with "initial revision: 1.1". Am I correct in assuming VCP will snarf all the revisions and store them into CVS? How 'bout the change log info?

Yes and yes, and labels too. You should also see some new labels like "r_2" and "ch_3" for perforce's revisions and change numbers.

I'm fairly new to CVS, but manually grabbed the underlying p4 depot RCS files and copied them into CVS. The good thing is that it retains the code version info, but it's lost all the RCS logs with comments.

What do you mean the "code version info"?
