That's good to know :-).

| The message probably already had the From_ line escaped. | Perhaps you're pulling your mail from a POP3 mailbox, in which case | the From_ line was escaped when the message was delivered into the | POP3 mailbox.

Mail is transfered directly to my machine via SMTP. exim then pipes it to maildrop, and maildrop performs the final delivery. I'll look around and see if I can figure out where the escaping is happening. I have the check_string and escape_string variables in exim set to not escape the From_ line.
