Courier must determine the machine's name. If you did not explicitly set the machine's name using the "me" configuration file, Courier uses the output of the "hostname" command.
In your case, the output of "hostname" does not match anything you've added to your locals file. As such, the local machine name does not get recognized as a local domain name, resulting in a rather confused server.
