Hello everyone,

I'm using mutt as IMAP client for our server which was recently upgraded from UW imapd to courier-imap. One feature I'm missing right now is that with uw-imapd, IMAP folders were tagged with "N" signifying that this folder has new e-mail in it. Is this feature available in courier-imap? Or, do I have to do any additional configuration on the server?

The problem is that checking for new mail in maildirs requires non-trivial expenditure of resources (you have to scan at least two directories, and optionally move and rename a number of files), so it is only implemented for INBOX. New mail checking for other folders is not implemented for performance reasons.

Hm. But UW-IMAP with Maildir support does support this feature. I never noticed any significant performance issues when using UW-IMAP. Are you sure that the performance issues are significant? Wouldn't these files have to be moved and renamed eventually anyway? So the only additional cost is the scanning of the additional directories?

Thanks, bryan
