I think, at first I only had agp in the kernel and nothing in loader.conf. But that didn't help either. Only later, I added more and more to loader.conf ;-)

Right, removing acpi_video_load="YES" from /boot/loader.conf did the trick. I just did not think that could have an impact on agp. Everything works fine now (agp compiled into kernel).
