Hey all I've been having some weird problems with maildrop right
now...and i think it has to do with my mailfilter. Right now
I'm running qmail, and vpopmail on my RH9 box. The problem I'm
having has nothing to do with delivering to a local user but
more it's a problem of bouncing the message when the local user
doesn't exist. Right now my mailfilter looks like this:
---------------------------------------------------------------
SHELL="/bin/sh"
import EXT
import HOST
VPOP="| /home/vpopmail/bin/vdelivermail '' bounce-no-mailbox"
to
"$VPOP"
----------------------------------------------------------------
Delivering messages locally to real users is no problem, when I
telnet into the machine and try to send to a user that doesn't
exist on the system I get two different results.
1) The message is bounced back to the send and the log says:
2003-08-08 16:15:28.733048500 delivery 144: failure:
Sorry,_no_mailbox_here_by_that_name._vpopmail_(#5.1.1)/
2003-08-08 16:15:28.733052500 status: local 0/10 remote 0/255
2003-08-08 16:15:28.736772500 bounce msg 2501970 qp 28645
2003-08-08 16:15:28.736774500 end msg 2501970
This is the desired result...but often more times or not this
happens...
2) The message trys to deliver but is deferred and remains in
the queue only to reattempt delivery over and over. When this
happens the log says:
2003-08-08 16:21:27.766415500 delivery 146: deferral:
Sorry,_no_mailbox_here_by_that_name._vpopmail_(#5.1.1)/maildrop:_error_writing_to_mailbox.//usr/bin/maildrop:_Unable_to_deliver_to_mailbox./
Is this a common problem? What can i do to make it so messages
are bounced that are sent to users that don't exist?
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,
Brian Jensen
