that a single 500mhz, 21164 processor ( akin to a pent II maybe, where the newer 21264 alpha chip has a sorta "doubler" ) with 4 gig disk.

Sounds right.

did u folks get a JIT with the java src code ( even if it is for the i386 ) .

Well, we got the Solaris JIT for Sparc, but that's part of the stock download. Otherwise, we don't have a JIT. (Unlike the Blackdown folks who got a JIT for x86 only.)

I suppose this would mean that SUN is treating u like the commercial guys, and not giving u crippled code.

I get early drops and the whole nine-yards. Unfortunately, because Sun didn't own the early JIT (it was sub-licensed from Symantec), they don't give out source code to it.

I'm curious as to why SUN does not want to support u folks with a JCK.

We have access to the JCK. What we don't have is a binary distribution license.

would it be possible to also get the Java3D code. I'd also like to complete that code so I can get into the vrml/java code that some folks have been doing. If not, i'll have to go the the i386/linux side of things :{

We'd need a port to the Alpha before any of that was done. :(

Nate
