Hello,
I just installed mysql-3.22.32-pc-linux, set up the grant tables, and upon
trying to set the password, I got an error message thus:
bash-2.03# ./bin/mysqladmin -u root password xxxxxx
./bin/mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed
error: 'Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket
'/tmp/mysql.sock' (111)'
Check that mysqld is running and that the socket: '/tmp/mysql.sock' exists!
bash-2.03#
Does anyone have a clue what could be causing this?
My box is a PC with a Pentium pro 200MHZ, 128M ram, no other OS other than
Linux
Slack 7.0.
Thanks Mike
