Having seen literally thousands of these on trees here in south Florida, I
concur with the Delonix regia determination (which is known locally here as
royal poinciana).

It looks like the FlamboyantTree seed pod, Delonix regia, native to Madagascar but planted world wide in warmer parts. The seed pod is known in the West Indies as a Shak-Shak, and can be used as a musical/percussion instrument.
