does anyone have a quick hint how I can limit the number of simultanous outgoing smtp connections?

Look in the "modules.esmtp" file in your courier 'etc' directory.

'MAXDELS' is the maximum number of simultaneous deliveries (outgoing connections) and 'MAXHOST' is the maximum number of outgoing connections to a single mailserver.

Check out the "modules.html" file in the courier documentation for more information on how the modules files work and what the variables mean.
