Hi, I've downloaded the newest MySQL program, and followed the directions to create a file named C:\MY.CNF and put the information in it: [sqld] basedir = c:/mysql/ datadir = c:/mysql/data/

That should say [mysqld], not [sqld].

I have a windows 2000 machine with php installed on it.

When I try to start the service using the DOS prompt, I get an error that tells me it's not a program. see the attached screen.

Do you have any advice? I've read the manual online and there seems to be no more information, like this is just supposed to work with no problem at all.

Are you MySQL certified? http://www.mysql.com/certification/
