2) Status update of proposed 'ODF Implementation, Interoperability and Conformance TC' (OIIC TC) - Don H. **In Rob Weir's absence, Don Harbison briefed us on the next steps for the proposed ODF Interoperability and Conformance TC. The proposed charter has been reviewed at length. Next step is for 5 OASIS members from at least 3 member organizations to sponsor the proposed charter. **An academic study has recently been published - "Lost in Translation: Interoperability Issues for Open Standards - ODF and OOXML as Examples" -- and is available at http://papers.ssrn.com/sol3/papers.cfm?abstract_id=1201708 a sign of the increased attention to the issue and underscoring the need for the proposed TC. **Alan Clark provided a read-out of the Microsoft ODF Workshop in Redmond on July 30^th. **Still no word from Microsoft on whether they intend to participate in the proposed TC. . 3.) OpenOffice.org Conference -- All -Louis Suarez Potts briefed us on the status of the one-day ODF camp/workshop -An abstract needs to be drafted to explain what the camp/workshop is all about -Aslam Raffee and Marino Marcich briefed the group on the 2^nd Int'l ODF Users Workshop in Pretoria, South Africa on Oct 9-10. 4.)
