Dear list members:

For some strange reason I am unable to install MySQL Control Center on my home computer running Windows 2000. I get the following Windows Installer error message:

"This installation package could not be opened. Verify that the package exists and that you can access it, or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

I've done some web research, and have already performed suggested tasks such as installing the latest version of Windows Installer, running the Windows Installer Clean-Up Utility, and even re-installing Windows Installer. Nothing has worked so far. Even after downloading another copy of the MySQL Control Center installation file today, I still get the same error message.

This is particularly strange because I was able to install MySQL Control Center on the computer at my job, which also runs Windows 2000. But on my home computer, I'm unable to get the installer to work.

Has this happened to anyone else? If so, were you able to resolve the problem? If so, how did you do it?
