Fighting against something that 99% of users are using is kind of futile. You're shooting yourself in the leg. If you only want to develop software for your own use, nobody cares. If you distribute it, it should be compatible with reality.

But, what can you expect from someone, who doesn't know how to quote and PGP signs mailing list messages. :(
