Jeff;
Thanks for the update! I hope you get the thumbnailing server fixed soon :-) It's really cool to be able to link to thumbnails of all the images - the page loads a lot faster!

Hi ShoreTel,
This sounds like a problem to me. Could I take a look at this page so that I can get more details? I'll bring this up with the rest of the team ASAP.
Thank you,
Jeff

My web application is still behaving as before. My images were uploaded to Google Base (as opposed to just submitting the URL). And I am still getting 404 when embedded in a page, but view fine when I Right-click -> View Image

Hi Aubrey,
You are correct :) We decided that this was the way to go and I hope that it works for you. I appreciate your patience with this change and I'm glad that you and Cameron pointed out this shortcoming.
Thank you,
Jeff

It looks like the thumbnail server has been officially disabled, as images in the feed now point to the actual image location again. :-)

Hi Aubrey,
Google: Any news? It's been broke for a couple months now...
Not yet, but we're reading the thread and I have pinged a few folks just now to find out some more information on this topic.
I hope to update you shortly on this issue.
Thanks for your patience.
Cheers,

Has there been any movement on this issue? Is the reason this protection is enabled to prevent abuse? Doesn't this kind of limit the usefulness of the API for mashup developers? Is there an alternative approach which doesn't require handling for arbitrarily sized images?
Thanks for any info!
Cameron
