Friend hoonier, please forgive my bluntness, but I have examined your window component, and I think you had a better chance of sprouting wings and flying than you did of getting that window to mount the way you wanted it.
There are three distinct problems involved, any one of which would doom the undertaking. These are: 1) Components don't cut through multiple surfaces; 2) You have the thing set to glue to horizontal surfaces, whereas, as we know, walls are vertical; 3) You have the gluing plane defined as the top edge of the window, whereas I believe you would actually wish it to mount on the back surface of the exterior casing.
I'm getting writer's cramp at the prospect of fully explaining what you should do, but let me try pointing you in the right direction.
As to the first problem, there are two recent threads on this forum pertaining to that very issue. They are:
how to make component of a hole in the thick wall http://groups.google.com/group/SketchUp3d/browse_thread/thread/8a151a96b77f5627/#
Complex Window Components http://groups.google.com/group/SketchUp3d/browse_thread/thread/93bb9a9ff24e3e0c/#
As to the second two, I urge you to read and reread the Help file on Components. In a nutshell, you need to change the gluing surface to Vertical or Any, and you need to change the gluing plane by right-clicking an instance of the component and selecting "Change Axes." Or you may wish to explode an instance of the component and redefine it. Generally, when you define a component with specific gluing characteristics, it's easier if you define it in position on a representative surface.
Good luck, and feel free to ask more questions.
