Where might I find this work around for Mozilla/Netscape?

If this is the one you are referring to I read it..

I have tried several IMAP clients and still no luck.

Well, then all those clients (including recent Mozilla/Netscape) don't implement (correctly) the namespace extension. There's not much you can do about it - besides fixing the client. There is a work-around for - I don't know about others.
