Trust me - the EI image for the 2950 simply wouldn't load on my SI unit.

http://www.cisco.com/cgi-bin/tablebuild.pl/cat2950 still says: c2950-i6q4l2-mz.121-22.EA2.bin C2950 EI AND SI IOS IMAGE

And the -crypto page says: c2950-i6k2l2q4-mz.121-22.EA2.bin C2950 EI AND SI IOS CRYPTO IMAGE

Where do you find different images?

The EI features won't be activated on an SI switch regardless of the image. When I first tried, I used an EI only image and had to xmodem the old image back.

And, as you pointed out, that image is an "EI AND SI" image so sure, that'll load. But I won't have an EI switch at the end of the day which means I'll be stuck with 64 VLANs vs. 250.
