Everyone on this mail list should send message to sugg@redhat.com suggesting that MySQL be on their distribution. Try and give them some business reason; why is MySQL important to you and your organization?

I see no reason why Red Hat can't distribute MySQL-- at the very least version 3.20.22 which is under standard GPL. I'm sure the MySQL folks would rather see support dollars, but this is your chance to help generate revenue if you haven't contributed directly. (Yeah, I'm guilty too...)

Regards, Rick

Maybe 3.20.22 will be released in the next Red Hat release (since it's been GPLed). The current version is not under the GPL so Red Hat won't include it in their distribution.

In summary: If you don't like the fact that RedHat doesn't distribute mysql, email them. They're a commercial company, and they will listen if users complain.
