Well, we _started_ with MySQL almost 2 years ago. Back then, we had 20% of the client base we have now. Back then, MySQL worked fine.. six months ago we began seeing that all was not well in paradise. But I thought that throwing more hardware at the problem would solve it.. and nobody questioned my decision because I built the system and nobody else knew much about it..

The best way to test MySQL in such an environment is to run it in parallel with a copy of production data. Don't roll something as critical as an app that is part of your main revenue stream into production without LOTS of testing. The last major production project I ran, we tested it for a

Well, we had been using it for a long time without problems.. but now I tend to agree with my boss when he says the time has come to move off MySQL and go Oracle.
