I'm a bit unclear on a concept about running a web-based applet that connects to a MySQL server.
I think what I want is an applet that is embedded in a web page, but I'm not sure. If I do write an applet this way, should I do the development on the OS that it will most likely run on, or will it really be cross platform?
Also, when I connect to the db server, does the connection come from localhost on the computer, or from the client on person X's desktop machine?
Lastly, are there any Java 2 runtime environments for applets embedded in a webpage for MacOS?
Thank you for your help.
