Just to add to Matt's reply on this point, you can change column width
directly in iGoogle. Your active tab (up near the top of the page,
just under the Google logo area) should have a little down-arrow icon.
Click that and select "Edit this tab"; you should get a selection of
column-layout options.
But be aware that many users don't know about this, so you should try
to avoid gadgets that rely on a width greater than 300px or so unless
they're only for your own use.
