Hi,

Maybe this is a question that the subscribers of the packagers list can answer:
We are developing a server where we are using MySQL 4.0.11 a gamma. Our source code is going to be open source but I'm not sure it will be under the GPL license. We use the binary win32 version of MySQL and we have not modified any source files in MySQL.
To make it easier for end users to install the server we are planning to create a installer (InstallAnywhere (commercial)) that includes the MySQL zip file along with our own code. The installer will unzip the MySQL zip file and executes setup.exe -s (a silent install of MySQL).
Is this permitted when MySQL used the GPL license? Do our code need to be GPL?
I would say yes, since you are distributing MySQL with your product. I've forwarded your question to our licensing experts and will get back to you, when I have a definitive answer.
