I've read most of the docs on Courier and it seems like an interesting, well-integrated system. I like the idea of various components (MTA, POP, IMAP, etc.) being designed to work together, yet retaining their modular approach.

The problem is that I'm still fairly lost as a newbie who would implement this. I, like most people I'd guess, will opt for a binary package route, installing Courier from debs. So the installation is straightforward, but the beginning steps of managing this system and a newbie-type overview of Courier I haven't run across.

For example, I've read all about advantages of maildir versus mbox, but nowhere have I read anything about how to make the dirs and/or how I can filter mail using maildirs and IMAP. Similarly, while the man pages are clearly well crafted for someone who is used to Courier or Qmail, they're of little use for a newbie to the system.

Are there any newbie-style docs available which gives an overview of the system? Is there anything aimed at people who are brand new to Courier? Any whacks with a clue-bat would be appreciated; TIA.
