Subject:Re: Could not create filter. Forwarding to too many addresses.

A possible work around solution for some of you.

I had about 30 filters set up to forward. Each filter contained 1 or 2 email addresses that the filter would look for. The filter would then forward to my main gmail account or my wifes main gmail account. We both use this "filter" gmail account when signing up for things on the web or giving out an email address to companies. This is just our way of safeguarding our main gmail account until gmail does something like yahoo mail and allow you to use throw away addresses.

Anyhow, I ended up deleting all my filters (not sure if you have to be this drastic). I was then finally able to create a new filter that would forward. However, now instead of having a separate filter for each "company" that would send us email, I now have filters set up as categories.

For example I created 1 filter that looked for emails from travel companies or newsletters. When creating a filter you type in the email address you want it to look for followed by "OR" and then the next email address etc. I created another for our "financial" emails, etc.

So far I have created about 6 of these filters. I don't like this as well because you end up with 8-10 or more email addresses under 1 filter. It looks clunky. It was much easier to have each filter listed separately but that stopped working for me and looks like you others around the beginning of september.

Will someone please post when it looks like the "bug" is fixed so I can go back to having the filters listed separately. Or post if someone has found what the "limit" is for having separately listed forwarding filters.
