Nonsense. Faster processing means lock hold times are reduced which results in greater throughput. It absolutely makes a huge difference.

Nobody says performance doesn't matter. What we are saying is some of us are willing to trade a little performance for more functionality and we'd like a way to do that. Of course, *you* don't have to make the trade. But it would be nice if people who needed it could do it.

So I don't follow your objection at all. If not installing a trigger doesn't impact performance, but installing one is possible - what have you lost?
