hi,
I recently installed MySQL (current verion) on my Win98 system. It worked fine for about half a day. After a while, I tried the show database command and it would give me a list of directories somewhere else on the computer. I shutdown and restarted the server a number of times and noticed that the server would work for about 300 seconds of uptime, then it would randomly switch to some other directory on my computer. I have not changed any of the configuration files and am using all the default settings. Also, the computer running MySQL is not connected to any kind of network (It only has a network card for use at college, it it's currently at home) I hope that's enough information. I've read the entire manual (parts of it many times) and wasn't able to solve the problem.
On another (perhaps related note) I'm using the database as a JDBC backend. I was able to get JDBC working with the MM driver before it started acting up. I haven't tried JDBC since, figureing if I couldn't use the mysql client, then the Java connection wouldn't work either. Advance thanks if anyone can help me solve this, I'm and SQL newbie and maybe I missed something....
