Can you elaborate on your "similar" issue? I have seen/experienced the
common 1067 error typically resulting from incorrect settings in the
my.cnf/my.ini file, but the error I'm getting in this case seems different.
Just as an FYI, for testing purposes, I have installed mySQL in a variety of
locations on drive C (including the default location and other locations), and
with proper my.cnf/my.ini file settings, mysql does work as a service. I only
run into a problem when I install mySQL to drive E or at least keep the data on
drive E. In this case, I can only run mySQL in standalone mode - when
attempting to run as a service, I get the error described in the previous email:
System error 5 has occurred
Access is denied.
I have installed mySQL in this manner (drive d or e, etc.) before but only
on Windows 2000 and Windows XP. The current server I'm installing on is NT 4
though.
