I am still having this exact issue. I have anopenfire3.4.5 and XMPP S2S isn't working correctly. I can send messages to gtalk users and they can chat back. But users in my domain always appear offline to gtalk users.

When will this be fixed?

I'm having the same problem here. I'm usingOpenfire3.4.5. S2S with GTalk doesn't work but other networks seem to work well (jabber.org for example).

I solved the problem after signing up into Google Apps with my domain (I hadn't used them before) and disabling the chat service. Details here:
