Courier talks to authdaemon via $PREFIX/var/authdaemon/socket. If you configured the packages with a different $PREFIX they will expect the socket at different locations.

Get the location with `sockstat` (or whatever Irix has) and either make one a symlink to the other or just reconfigure.

I recommend install the whole courier-suite, all paths will match - and you dont need to start all the courier-services.
