Fire up /usr/lib/courier/sqwebmail/cleancache.pl script to purge cached data of Courier authdaemon. Also you can remove FROM variable from /path/to/peter/Maildir/sqwebmail-config file.

And that has fixed it. Very many thanks. Didn't check the authdaemon cache but the incorrect FROM value was clearly present in the sqwebmail-config file.
