Strange. I don't see any difference in downloading a SI or EI image for the 2950 ? As far as I know it's the same image, but it detects automatically if it is a EI or SI hardware.

According to Cisco SI hardware is not upgradeable to EI, unless you buy a switch that is EI.

Can you point me to two different images for the 2950 being SI and EI ?

Kind regards,

Koen.

Is the SMI to EMI upgrade on either the 3750 or 3550 a software upgrade or an actual hardware upgrade as it is with the 2950?

2950 is a hardware upgrade? What will they change?

The whole unit. I loaded the EMI image on a 2950T-48-SI and it failed to load, spitting out an error about the hardware not supporting the E image. I was dumped into RMON and had to xmodem a 6MB image (ugh) to it.
