Subject:[courier-users] perftest1 - unknown userActions...

Dear all,

My apologies if this is a rather trivial question, however after spending the last week trying to get to the bottom of it, I am at a dead-end. I am also new to courier and email servers using Linux.

The problem: I have configured and compiled courier on Slackware 10.0 with out issue. I have reached the part in the documentation which suggests running perftest1. When I run perftest1 from the test account everything looks OK, however when I check /var/log/maillog it is a different story. The log reports that the user is unknown, yet it is only using a local account.

My authdaemonrc file has been set to use authpwd and authshadow (the initial config didn't seem to work so removed unnecessary modules). I have also specified the authdaemond version as authdaemond.plain. A previous post to this list showed that it could gave been the lack of a FQDN, however this has now been rectified and still the problem remains.

I would be very greatful if someone could maybe give me a few pointers on how to get to the bottom of this. I have already been through a large proportion of previous posts to the list and have not been able to find a satisfactory answer.

Thank you in advance for your time and effort.

Regards
